\The FADAMA III Additional Financing (AF) Programme says it is collaborating with the World Bank in training 75,000 graduates in agriculture and agro-allied business in Nigeria. Mr Tayo Adewuni, the National Project Coordinator of FADAMA, said this during his visit to the training centre in Mokwa.Adewuni said that the ongoing training in 23 states was aimed at reducing the high rate of unemployment, adding that the two-week training was carried out under the FADAMA Graduate Unemployed Youth Support Enterprises Development Programme. 100 youths are currently undergoing training in three centres across the state — Federal University of Technology, Minna, Ibrahim Badamasi University, Lapai and Niger State College of Agriculture, Mokwa. “The main objective of this training is to reduce youth restiveness among the youth in the country. “Each of the 23 states will train 5000 candidates and come up with the best 500 candidates,’’ he said. The project coordinator said that each of the 500 successful trainees would be given between ₦750, 000 and ₦3 million as grant to start a business of his or her choice. He expressed satisfaction with the training arrangements in the state, adding that the programme, which started in July this year, would last for three years.
